BEACON OF THE BIOECONOMY BIO QUAY The BioCampus is a 12-hectare site in the port of Straubing- Sand, where everything revolves around the biobased eco- nomy. Here, industries and start-ups find an ideal location to develop innovative processes and products that contribute to the raw material change and the energy transition. The focus here is on the sustainable use of renewable raw and residue materials. The port of Straubing-Sand offers the right environment for this: settlement areas on the BioCampus, as well as offices and laboratories in the techno- logy and start-up incubation centre. Environmentally friendly logistics can be provided via the Danube connection. With our expertise as a site and business development agency and a broad network, we ensure that all components of this eco- system work well together. With our start-up competition „PlanB - Biobased.Business.Bavaria.“ we support in parti­ cular young companies to create impact in the bioeconomy. A unique infrastructure is also growing on the BioCampus: the „BioCampus MultiPilot“, a multi-purpose demonstration plant funded by the Free State of Bavaria. Here, companies and research institutions fromall over the world will be able to scale up their industrial biotechnology processes from the laboratory to the industrial scale. In this way, Straubing is contributing Straubing to the faster transformation toward a biobased economy.
